Statistics Canada: Census and NHS Survey
In 2011 the mandatory long-form census was discontinued and replaced with a voluntary survey. The National Household Survey (NHS) is where some of the information previously gathered in the census can be found for 2011.
In 2016 the long-form census was reinstated, and data related to all topics will be found in one location. Due to the change in methods in 2011, comparability between census years may be of limited use.
The Survey of Household Spending (SHS) from Statistics Canada collects detailed information about household spending in Canada.
TIP: Use the Add/Remove data tab to change data such as location, age, date, and household expenditure in the tables.
