Narrowing your Topic

For this assignment, you must narrow your topic from the broad list provided. Some ways to do that are:

  • Reading about your topic in background sources
  • Reading about your topic on websites
    • reading about your topic will introduce you to different concepts that you can research and write about
  • Brainstorm elements of your topic that are interesting to you
  • Is there a specific aspect of your topic that you can focus on? (i.e.specific location)
  • Is there an element of your topic that has been in the news often lately?

You might find that a narrowed topic you decide on does not have enough written on it; you may have to alter your topic as a result.
