This guide will help you get started with data/statistics-based research. Use this guide to discover the variety of print and electronic data/statistical resources available at Okanagan College Library and on the Web.

Data Liberation Initiative

OC Library subscribes to Statistics Canada's Data Liberation Initiative, which provides access to to numerous Statistics Canada public use microdata files, databases, and geographic files. Students, faculty members, and staff can use DLI data for research and teaching, according to the DLI license. For example, use of Rich Data Services is explained below.

Rich Data Services (RDS)

Rich Data Services (RDS) is Statistics Canada’s analytical platform for Public Use Microdata files (PUMFs) and their metadata. The RDS Explorer and Tabulation Engine's user-friendly interfaces allow users to browse, interact, and download data and metadata for online or offline analysis.

The following two documents explain the basics of how to start using this resource. RDS can be accessed from the Library A-Z database.
