Locating Books

After you have found a book in the catalogue, you need the following information to locate it:

Campus: If a book is not at your campus, you can request the item

Location: Where the book is found in the library (circulating, reference, or video shelves)

Call Number: The call number on the spine is used to find the book on the shelf

Status: Available or checked out (you can request a hold for a book that is checked out)

Example:

Renewing Items + Your Library Account

View your Library account and renew materials.  Your library account also shows the status of items you've requested from another OC campus library.

Courtesy email notices are sent to your myOkanagan email.  These courtesy emails are sent when a two-week loan item must be returned or renewed and when a requested item has arrived from another library.

OCtopus-OC Library's Search Engine

You may also use OC Library's OCtopus search engine which also searches for not only books and media, but also articles, reference materials, and periodical databases and more!

Google Books Search

Google, in conjunction with a number of large research universities, is in the process of digitizing millions of books. For older books, where copyright has expired, anyone can view the entire book through Google Books (Look for books labelled "Full View"). Where copyright still applies - generally for newer books - a limited preview is often available.
