E-Books at Okanagan College

See the dropdown options for instructions on downloading e-books from different databases, as well as how to read the e-books in the browser window.

E-Book File Types

E-books come in a variety of different file formats. You can determine the format by the letters that follow the '.' in a file name. For example, a file named "ebook.pdf" is a .pdf file.

Common file types for e-books are PDF, EPUB, and MOBI. MOBI is Amazon's proprietary file type that can only be read in Kindle apps or on Kindle e-readers. EPUB is the most common format for other e-readers, and PDFs can be read by any device.
