Canada Act 1982

The Canada Act 1982 (1982 c. 11) is an act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. This Act formally ended the "request and consent" provisions of the Statue of Westminster 1931 in relation to Canada, whereby the British Parliament had the power to pass laws extending to Canada.  This Act was passed at the request of Canada. 

Constitution Acts 1867 to 1982 - present

Required Reading Sections 91 and 92 of the Constitution Act 1867. These sections deal with the division of power between the federal government and the provinces.
