Statistics Canada offers Public Use Microdata Files (PUMFs) to institutions and individuals. They are non-aggregated data which are carefully modified and then reviewed to ensure that no individual or business is directly or indirectly identified. Types of Data include the Census of Canada, Statistics Canada Survey, etc. Data for a full list of available PUMFs see the Public Use Microdata File (PUMF) Collection webpage - Collection section.
Access for OC students, Faculty and Staff is provided through the Library's Data Liberation Initiative (DLI) membership. The collection contains microdata files and associated documentation for all available, catalogued, Statistics Canada Public Use Microdata Files (PUMFs). The collection includes both new and historical PUMFs and related documentation.
In order to use PUMFs users need to have a familiarity with statistical data analysis software programs such as SPSS or SAS.
For assistance obtaining PUMFs and regarding questions about their use contact Gilbert Bede, OC DLI reprresentive.
