Creating a research strategy is always a good idea. It will help you:

1. Manage your time more effectively

2. Focus on developing a good thesis statement;

3. Formulate a research strategy what type of information do I need and what type of sources have I been asked to use;

4. Provides you with the ability to discuss your information needs more clearly with librarians and others who will help you in locating the information you need; 

5. Helps you start to develop a list of keywords and keyword phrases to use in your search; and

6. Develop a method for managing the information you discover, incorporating it into your assignment, and properly citing the source of such information;  

Your search plan will change as do your research. 

• You may not be able to locate sufficient information on a specific author

• You may find that too much information

• You may not be able to locate the specific type of information you looking for

• You need to be adaptable - refocus your research as needed
