"The Census program provides a statistical portrait of the country every five years." It forms the largest component of Statistics Canada information.
The Census focuses on information about Canada's population while the Statistics Canada page is much wider in focus and examines economic activity, health, education amongst many other topics.
Census information is best used for defining the consumer or customer. The Census page provides the demographic characteristics of individuals in varying levels of detail in specific geographical areas.
Tabs in this guide include the last three Census Programs, including information on the cancellation of the long-form Census in 2011 and the replacement voluntary survey, the National Household Survey.
