Primary Sources

Once you have a basic grasp of the subject area and where your research topic fits in, you can begin to review primary sources to see if they should be included in your research. Primary sources include original manuscripts, case studies, first-person accounts from news articles, broadcast media, the Internet, field study interviews, etc.

 

Hansard

Canadian Parliamentary Debates (Hansard) provide a "substantially verbatim" record of what is said in Parliament. They have been officially recorded since the 1870s.

The most efficient method for you to search Hansard for information on MAiD, Substance  Addiction, or the social impact of the Internet on Canadian society is using Google a site search options.  

For example 

hansard "medical assistance in dying" site:.ourcommons.ca 

OR

hansard MAID site:.ourcommons.ca

Legislative Assembly of British Columbia Hansard Services

Hansard Services publishes the official reports of the Legislative Assembly and Parliamentary Committees and broadcasts Assembly and Committees proceedings. The transcripts and broadcasts are full, accurate and impartial records of the work of the Members of the Legislative Assembly.

B.C.'s Hansard was first instituted in 1970 when a limited report of Assembly debates was prepared. It became a full report in 1972 when the debates of budget estimates (Committee of Supply) and clause-by-clause debate of bills (Committee of the Whole) were included in the transcript.
