Academic Writing and English Language Resources

Created by M. Burfitt and L. Beatch

Learning a New Language

Immersing yourself in the language you are learning is the best strategy for speeding up the process of learning. Continue the learning outside of the classroom by making English speaking friends, restricting yourself to English television, news and radio, and challenging yourself to make conversation in the community.

We have carefully selected these resources to accompany your in-class learning. Please feel free to share your thoughts on these pages, we would love to hear you feedback!

Building Blocks of Language Practice Success

Success in your learning comes from balance in your practice of inputs, outputs and reflection. The more you listen and read (input), the more you will speak and write (output), the more you go back over what you have done and learn from your errors (reflection), the more your skills will grow (success). Furthermore, making a habit to study little and often while immersing yourself in the language and the culture will accelerate your learning and progress.
