DSCI 321 - Health Analytics Library Research Guide

This is an OC Library Research Guide prepared for the DSCI 321 Health Analytics course to introduce the students to how to use the resources and services of the library in their course research assignments

Medical Knowledge is Going at an Astronomical Rate

Today, we will lay the foundation for how you will locate primary, secondary, and tertiary for your assignments.

Why is this skill important to you?

  1. Effective information research skills will help you identify knowledge that will assist you in areas such as priority-driven health researchpopulation and public health, healthcare systems, health economics, health ethics, epidemiology, improvements in clinical practice, and, ultimately, ensuring the delivery of care designed to meet the patient's health needs or not 20 countries with the lowest life expectancy in 2022.

  2. The volume of scholarly information produced in the health sciences and ICT is increasing at a 'mind blogging' rate.

No definitive answer exists on how fast this knowledge is growing. What is known is that the healthcare industry generates 30% of the world’s data volume. By 2025, the compound annual growth rate of data for healthcare is projected to reach 36%. That’s 6% faster than manufacturing, 10% faster than financial services, and 11% faster than media and entertainment
