Statistics Canada reported a population of 30.7 million in 2000 and 37.6 million in 2019, a 22.4 percent increase in population and a 24.2 percent increase in the number of deaths.

The MalaCards: The Human Disease Database is a database designed to enable genomic and genetic researchers, investigators, and scholars to efficiently navigate the universe of human genes, genetic variants, proteins, cells, and biological pathways related to various human diseases. Available since 2013, MalaCards provides detailed data on thousands of human diseases and their relationships with respective genes.

Chronic Disease in Canada

Chronic disease in Canada, based on Statistics Canada data gathered in 2021, indicates that 45% of Canadians lived with one major chronic disease, and 1 in 12 had three or more chronic chronic diseases. 

The same report indicated that 4.7 million Canadians did not have a regular primary care provider, and 2.5 million Canadians indicated unmet health care needs.
