The North American Industry Classification System Purpose
The statistical agencies of Canada, Mexico and the United States have developed the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS). The purpose of the NAICS is to provide a common, production-oriented classification framework that can be used for economic activities in Canada, Mexico, and the United States to facilitate the collection and analysis of economic statistics and data. To understand economic activity, measure industry performance, identify market sectors, and track industry trends.
NAICS are used to in the IBISWorld research database. In IBISWorld, a NAICS code with a "CA" indicates that it contains Canadian information, statistics, or data.
In the NAICS ontology, the country codes are CAN (Canada), MEX (Mexico) and US (United States).
I recommend that you make yourselves familiar with the NAPCS ontology.
Access to the listing of Statistics Canada Interactive Data Tables that use the NAICS variable here.
