Medicare

Medicare is a term that refers to Canada's publicly funded healthcare system. Instead of having a single national plan, Canada has a system of 13 provincial and territorial healthcare insurance plans.

First Nations Health Authority in 2013, BC was the first jurisdiction in Canada to establish in conjunction with Indigenous Nations a province-wide health authority with responsibility for health programs, services, and responsibilities formerly provided by Health Canada's First Nations Inuit Health Branch - Pacific Region.
